The Bull Run Cloggers, Inc. is a registered non-profit organization, dedicated to the preservation and promotion of Appalachian Clogging. Located in Manassas (Prince William County), Virginia, outside of Washington, DC., the group performs at festivals, fairs, craft shows, civic functions, celebrations, school functions, retirement homes, and more throughout the DMV! Although clogging was traditionally done to bluegrass, the group dances to bluegrass, country, Celtic, swing, and today's Top 40's.

What is clogging?

Clogging is a fast-paced, hand-clapping, country style of dance done with double "jingle taps" on the toe and heel of the shoe. There are different step styles in clogging. 'Buck' is derived from Cherokee Indian dancing and is a lot like 'flat-footing', meaning more on your heels and toes. 'Step' dancing originates from the Napoleanic years. 'Canadian' step dancing is closer to tap than clogging. The BRC dances with a combination of all these techniques, in a style descended from the Appalachian mountains.
